Just four miles and eleven minutes from the Bainbridge Island ferry terminal, Kindred Spirit Mailbox in upper Fort Ward Park on the south end of Bainbridge Island is accessible from both lower and upper Fort Ward Park however for those wanting to avoid an uphill hike, we recommend using the upper Fort Ward parking lot entrance on Fort Ward Hill Road NW. The official park address, 2241 Pleasant Beach Drive will take you to the lower parking lot from which you can enter the trail on the left and hike uphill to the mailbox.

Enter 2224 Fort Ward Hill Road NE into maps to get close enough to see the clearly marked park entrance on the right, across from Belfair Avenue.

Neighborhood Directions: from NE Country Club Road, turn right onto Fort Ward Hill Road NE and drive for about 1 ½ miles to the park’s entrance road on the right-hand side, clearly marked by a Fort Ward Park sign. 

Trail Entrance: From the right corner of the parking lot, enter the Fort Ward Blakely Harbor Trail. A short distance in take a sharp left at the three-way fork. Follow the trail for about ½ mile where you will see a small clearing on the left with two benches and the Kindred Spirit Mailbox.
